Cody TheCreative
Calabasas, CA

Born in 1989, Cody TheCreative was raised in suburban New York, where his passion for drawing ignited at the young age of two. Throughout his early childhood, Cody rarely set his pencil down, finding inspiration in his favorite characters from VHS tapes, album covers, and baseball cards. By the time he was eight years old, Cody held his first solo exhibition in Greenburgh, NY titled, Heroes and Icons.

Growing up, Cody was uninterested in conforming to societal norms and instead focused on defining his own individuality. After a hiatus from art, he rediscovered his passion while pursuing a Creative Writing degree at SUNY Purchase. Enrolling in a life-drawing course, Cody found himself drawn back into the world of art, eventually becoming a teacher's assistant for noted visual arts professor, Roger Hendricks. His exploration of nature as a subject with landscape artist Todd J. Gordon opened up new creative pathways, expanding his artistic horizons beyond drawing people.

In his late twenties, Cody delved into abstract expressionism, gaining new techniques and vocabulary to enhance his artistic repertoire. His approach to mastering new techniques involves understanding the rules just enough to confidently break them, leading to a continuous cycle of exploration and boundary-pushing. This method has resulted in various projects, including Just an Easel and a Dream (pastel work), PennyPopArt (acrylic on copper), Cody's Wearable Art (hand-painted clothing & sneakers), and Splattered Skies (acrylic on canvas).
